Alas, Highly Recruited Defensive End Blaojevich passed on signing with the Canes.
University of Miami used to have this wonderful, magical football program that everyone feared. Then sometime a few years ago everyone got tired of being wonderful and magical and stopped winning games, and they've officially been having "a rebuilding year" every single year since. Today is the first official day of the next rebuilding year, as it is signing day.

Here's a quick update and interesting tiddle-bits from around the web to help commemorate this national sporting holiday.

  • "Shortly after 10 a.m., Miami Killian running back Lamar Miller, Miami-Dade's top recruit, became the 19th recruit to fax over his signed national letter of intent to the University of Miami." [Herald]
  • "Running back Bryce Brown -- considered the nation's No. 1 recruit by many services -- ...committed to Miami months ago, but his manager-adviser, Brian Butler, said no scholarship offer will be accepted for several more weeks, adding to what's become quite a saga." [Sporting News]
  • "The 'Canes signed A.J. Highsmith out of Fort Bend, Texas. He is rated the 24th best quarterback by ESPN.com." [Associated Content]
  • "Miami Pace defensive back Kayvon Webster arrived in at the school's Hennessey Room wearing a USF sweatshirt and signed with the Bulls. A big loss for the `Canes. They thought Webster was a lock." [SunSent]
So, that is that. Congratulations to all of the new recruits. Have fun with Randy Shannon's iron fist of discipline, and all of the wonderful rebuilding years in front of you.
