Yawn, More A-Rod Controversy

As a wee boy my baseball hero was Kirby Puckett. I know Marlins fans may not be able to comprehend the idea of a star player staying with a single team his entire career, but Puckett did, and racked up two World Series championships for the Twins and an impressive batting average. Then, a few years after he retired, it turned out he had become a woman-groping, public urinating, fat shame. The point being that at least he waited until after he retired to become a one man controversy machine. Not so much for our friend Alex Rodriguez.

A-Rod controversies are kind of boring at this point, but let's see what the gossips are saying now: Oh, Hookers! And not just any hookers, but hookers provided by the same lady-pimp that supplied ladies of the night for former NY Gov. Elliot Spitzer. So claims Kristen Davis, the madam in question, anyway. She tells the NY Daily News back in 2006 she says she met A-Rod, who begin pursuing her, while using her escort service as well. A-Rod hired a few of her hookers, he sent flirty emails, they dates. Classic "Love, American Style" type stuff. But, lets take it with a wee bit of salt, because this madam has a book to sell.

Anyway, Alex Rodriguez's baseball hero cred is pretty much shot, and it's a sad thing to watch. Pretty much the only town left he could pass for a respectable role model is right here in his childhood hometown. When kids grow up idolizing Tony Montana, A-Rod seems like a improvement.
