Sit Down, Shut Up and Maybe Watch This New Animated Television Program
Sit Down, Shut Up is the animated remake of a short-lived live-action series of the same name from down under, re-imagined by Mitchell Hurwitz, the same guy responsible for the dearly departed TV series/eagerly anticipated movie Arrested Development. It follows a group of teachers at a high school in a small fishing town (the only reason for this so far seems to be so that the school team can be called "The Baiters"), and features a solid voice cast consisting of past and present SNL players (Kenan Thompson, Will Forte, Cheri Oteri) and Arrested alum (Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Henry Winkler).
The Herald's Glenn Garvin hates it with a passion. He compares it to Hitler invading Russia. Seriously. We think it's charming and had a few good laughs, even if it can't quite replace King of the Hill in its time slot or Arrested Development with its pedigree.Just because you've created one hilarious show doesn't mean your other work is a guaranteed hit. We were reminded of that when American Dad came on 30 minutes later, but rest assured it's not quite American Dad bad and has promise.
Plus the character of acting principal Sue Sezno is the funniest role Kenan Thompson has had since Baggin' Saggin' Berry.
