Burn Notice Will Stay in Miami

The city commission today voted to delay its plans of demolishing the Expo Center in Coconut Grove in order to accommodate Burn Notice. According to Coconut Grove Grapevine, the city will allow the show to remain based at the building until 2010, with a possible option of extending the agreement for a year.Commissioner Joe Sanchez noted that it didn't make sense to risk losing the show and all the money, jobs and publicity it brings into town during this little economic slump we're having.
Actress Sharon Gless (The Cagney of Cagney & Lacey), and Marley & Me director David Frankle, both spoke in favor of the plan. Sanchez's mayoral rival, Comm. Regaldo, also supported Burn Notice, while Coconut Grove's own commissioner Mark Sarnoff favored turning the Expo Center land into a park, but agreed to the plan to keep the show in the Grove for the next year or so.
