Father Cutié Steps Down

• those of you making the outrageous claim that there is no mention of celibacy in scripture are just ignoramuses. Check out Matt. 19. Moreover Jesus NEVER said anything recommending marriage, and all his teaching sees it as an impediment to the Kingdom of Heaven. So read your bibles, and stop banging on with all this bullshit about priests marrying. If they do, they will be transgressing the recommendations of Jesus Christ, and a proud tradition of the Church.

• If you know your Bible, it also says that not all things were written down or recorded. That is why the Cathoic Church is also "apolistic" because it follows not only what is written in the Bible, but also the tradition that was handed down from the apostles. True the apostles were married and I don't know why the Catholic chuch made up that rule, but Fr. Cutie made a vow to follow it. He knew what he was getting into. No where in the Bible does it say that you should ONLY follow what is written there. But that's a whole other discussion. Father Cutie was relieved of his duties by the archbishop from his position at St Francis. I have personally met Fr. Cutie and have listened to him speak at church too. Yes, he does pack the house, but that doesn't justify his actions. He took a vow and broke it. No one is perfect and it's true he did bring many to the Catholic church because of his way of being able to bring God's message to many in an easy and understandable way. As far as the Catholic church losing followers, I believe that's not entirely true. In the archdiocese of Miami there were over 100 people baptized at Easter Vigils this year alone. The problem is that people no longer want to do things the way that God intended them to do things. They feel good and think that they are on the straight and narrow just because they don't kill anyone, don't steal or do anything majorly wrong. But how many of them don't help the homeless they see everyday, or even their own neighbor? How many people get divorced and then remarry? That is in the Bible too. "It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce. But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.'" Matthew 5:31-32 So what part of Fr. Cutie's actions are justifed? Just because he's a man doesn't make it OK. You can't just take the parts of the Bible that are convieniant to you and apply them to you life. It can't be a pick and choose thing. It's an impossible way of life but that is the struggle for our fallen human nature. That's why we must not do things our way, which may be easier or how we like them to be. We must constantly strive to listen to God and do things His way and trust that even if things aren't as we'd want them to be, God is in control.

• Katie...first of all as a Bible based faith the Catholic Church had no right to "make-up" and institute celibacy. As i have said before the Bible says often "Do not take the word of man over the word of God", popes, bishops, cardianls, priests etc are men...nothing more. anything they say that is not found in the Bible should be ignored period. th eCatholic Church created celibacy for selfish and self serving reasons I have mentioned here in prior posts and they were wrong to do so and all Catholics were wrong in following. second: father Cutie was not given the boot by the Church...he walked a way, meaning he gave them the boot. • Fr. Alberto took a vow, similar to the vows married people make to each other. What happens to cheating spouses? Some are forgiven by their spouse, others are given the boot. Fr. Alberto was given the boot by his spouse, the Church, that claims forgiveness should be practiced always. Who are we to judge? He did make mistakes in the way to go about what he wanted, however. He wants to serve God as many married people do, but he wants to do it his way. Nothing wrong with that. It's been said that "The way to hell is paved with good intentions." We should make sure that our own lives are in line before we make judgements about anyone else's. 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Luke 6:42

• Fornicating partners is what it is called in the Bible not girlfriend and boyfriend. Celibacy is another issue which I was not referring to here. God did call some to remain single or enuch in the Bible.

• This is the first time I heared or seen pictures of him. He has a right to be honest with himself and leavae the church and get married. Other priests have done so. He canot have both and he knew it. What made him think he would never get caught. Or mayb he wanted to be causht so then he could get out of the church and get married. That was the wrong way to do it. He did not practized what he preached. Father Cutie was so used to being in the public eye he was not behaving like a man of the cloth. He was too good looking that I think he got to be doing different things and wearing different hats and he is still condused in my estimation. • Diane: Father Cutie is not disobeying God...God never said a word about celibacy. God DID say "Take no mans word over the word of God"...the Apostles, Popes, Bishops, Cardinals are all men, none of which had the right in the first place to dictate changes to the Bible. Father Cutie has nothing to worry about in the eyes of God...now the Catholic Church on the other hand twisting scripture does.

• yes Father Cutie should be forgiven by us, but he will suffer the consequences of disobedience to God even though God forgives. Father Cutie lied and I still believe he is not telling the truth. He wants to be a priest- he wants to fool around... cannot have both. So, a decision needs to be made. The church should not have to deal with family problems of married priests- unfaithful wives, kids on drugs, divorce, etc... You cannot serve God and man... something will truly suffer. • Big Deal- I still respect the man- He's Human. He's not molesting any young boys or girls. Hiding it from the world and paying off the damage individuals & having to close alot of homes for retired nuns that didn't deserve it. Maybe the church should consider allowing Priest to marry. They did hundreds of years ago.Check history books. I think that the catholic church would have less problems. • What a bunch of phony hypocrites!!!!!! Father Albert is a wonderful priest and man...and let me remind all of you from cover to cover Old and New testaments THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO MENTION OF CELIBACY! This is a perfect time for the Catholic Church to immediately rescind this "MADE UP NONSENSE"! And for the Catholic Church to make an issue of this???????? When they have shuttled pedophiles from church to church and hid them for years defending them and Father Albert is where they decide to take a tough stance...it's this kind of stupidity that's to blame for all the empty Catholic Churches and the dwindling faithful finding other places to worship. My Church, my community and all who were lucky enough to meet Father Albert have truly lost a wonderful, inspirational Priest and friend.

• Please, with the scandals the Catholic Church has dealt with in the past, the Padre should be given an Award for cleaning up the Church's reputation. The archaic practices of the Church have lead to many of its very embarrassing situations in the past. Cover ups of child molesting priests is okay, but this is too much??? Catholic Church no longer represents nor reflects the ideals of a modern society. No we shouldn't allow a free for all orgy atmosphere, but let's get down to the reality of life today. The Church instituted it's rule of celibacy not GOD. it is that thinking, that they are or can or should be above the rest of us that will continue too attract the "wrong" types to Priesthood. Remove the ban on marriage, connect with the today not ancient History. While we're at it, stay out of Politics. Embrace the fact that yes, you have Gays among your parishioners like it or not, turning a blind eye to the facts don't make them go away. Finally, maybe stop covering up for all the child molesting freaks wearing the cloth. Funny how the Church will bend-over (no pun intended)backwards too cover up stories of the Countless number of Pedophiles they have, but as soon as a Hetero, normal man is caught with a woman... • I used to admire him and his �commitment� to the catholic church. Of course he is going to ask for forgiveness, hello he was CAUGHT. But I can�t help but wonder what would have happened if nobody had published those pictures or had seen him? The fact that lately there�s been information coming out of all the atrocities some priests have done, and the fact that some had done �worse� things, is not an excuse. He broke a commitment and he failed. It really irritates me when people say �well compare to pedophiles priests is not so bad� The fact remains, even if there are priests that had messed up worse and with the support of his parishioners and other people, he is a hypocrite who lied. Acts like those drive away people from the catholic church if you can not comply with celibacy, look for another religion.
