Miami: We're Still on the Fat List

Earlier this year Men's Fitness named us the fattest city in all of America. The American College of Sports Medicine decided to rate 50 American cities by levels of fitness. While we were spared the shame of being the most unfit city, we didn't fair too well. We came in 31st on the list of fittest, or if you want, the 19th most unfit.

Surprisingly the ACSM cites the fact that we have fewer golf courses, tennis courts, and swimming pools per capita than most cities. They also note our lake of bicycle or public transportation use, lower levels of citizens with health insurance, and the State's lax requirements for physical education.

Though, it wasn't all that bad. We have fewer smokers, asthma sufferers, diabetes-related deaths, and cases of angina than most cities, and fewer people report that they've had bad mental or physical health days in the past month.
