Report: Manny Ramirez's Doc Based in Miami

It's like deja vu. Alex Rodriguez, a baseball superstar, got caught in a banned substance scandal and tried to claim that he didn't know exactly what he was putting in his body, but some guy in Miami told him to do it. Now, Manny Ramirez, a baseball superstar, gets caught in a banned substance scandal and is claiming that he didn't know exactly what he was putting in his body, but his doctor told him to do it. Now a source says that doctor is based in Miami. During the off-season Ramirez lives in nearby Weston, Fl.

Yahoo! Sports talked to an anonymous source who says that Ramirez tested positive for a gonadotropin. This gels with ESPN's earlier report that the drug in question was human chorionic gonadotropin -- a fertility drug that is sometimes associated with steroid use.

The source also claims that the doctor who gave Ramirez the drug is Miami based, and that Ramirez is considering bringing legal action against him:

Ramirez, the source said, acquired the substance through a prescription from a doctor in Miami for his medical condition. The source intimated that Ramirez might bring legal action against the physician.

The threat of legal action also seems to gel with Ramiez's claim that he didn't know what he was taking.

The moral of the story: Don't trust anyone in Miami to give you things to put in your body.
