After a few false alarms, Miami-Dade can now be added to the list of counties with confirmed swine flu cases.

Two cases were confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and the Florida Department of Health, one involving a 13-year-old girl and another a 47-year-old man. Identities weren't released, but it was reported earlier that a 13-year-old girl who attended Doral Academy Charter Middle School was suspected to have contracted the virus from her 47-year-old father, who had recently traveled to Mexico. The school and an adjoining high school were temporarily closed.

The Florida Department of Health also reports that Broward County now has five cases, but says this doesn't reflect that the disease is necessarily spreading. The increase in confirmed cases mainly has to do with the CDC lab catching up on submitted samples.
