Rep. Kendrick Meek added another impressive entry to his list of endorsement of US Senate today as City of Miami Mayor, and president of the US Conference of Mayor, Manny Diaz announced his endorsement.
The press release came with equal amounts of back patting on the part of both men.
"Congressman Kendrick Meek is a leader in Congress who knows that placing unfair financial burdens and unfunded mandates on our cities is a practice that must end. Cities are being asked to do more with less, and Kendrick has proven himself to be a leader on the Ways and Means Committee who opposes disadvantaging our cities and most vulnerable citizens," said Mayor Manny Diaz.
"Manny Diaz is not only Miami's mayor, he's America's mayor. As President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Manny was the Leader-in-Chief, working tirelessly to ensure that Miami and cities throughout the state and county would benefit from the economic recovery package," said Congressman Kendrick Meek. "Whether working with President Obama or congressional leaders, Manny was the economic stimulus champion for our cities and his leadership is unparalleled. Mayor Diaz's endorsement means a great deal to this campaign, and I look forward to working together throughout this U.S. Senate race to better our community and state."
Though a registered independent, Diaz has always leaned democratic; endorsing Hillary Clinton in the presidential primary election, Barack Obama in the general election, and speaking at the last Democratic national convention.
His name is also being floated
as a potential democratic candidate for the CFO post in Tallahassee.
