The Organization of American States is one of those regional political forums that is made up of 35 independent nations in North, South and Central America. Technically that includes Cuba, but they've been on suspension since 1962. Now it appears they're being welcome back to the big boy's table after sitting in the time out corner. The AP reports that the OAS has revoked Cuba's suspension.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pushed hard to install preconditions demanding Cuba make certain democratic and human rights reforms, but the members countries have decided to allow the re-admittance of Cuba without those conditions.

The OAS was created in 1948 "to achieve an order of peace and justice, to promote their solidarity, to strengthen their collaboration, and to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity, and their independence."

As for whether or not Cuba actually wants to return to the body is still up in the air. The Castro government has repeatedly said it has no interest in joining.

We're guessing the news won't be meet with cheers here in much of Miami. There's already calls, by Republicans, to withhold monetary support to OAS if Cuba comes back.
