Crist, Meek Each Bring in About $3 Million for Senate Race; Rubio Closer to $300k

Categories: Politicks
Campaign fundraising filings for the quarter that ended last week are due to the FEC next week. No candidate in the race to replace Sen. Mel Martinez has officially released numbers, but a report by the Hill claims Republican Gov. Charlie Crist and Democratic Rep. Kendrick Meek are each expected to have totals close to $3 million.

Meek raised $1.2 million in the past quarter, bringing his full tally to just shy of $3.1 million. Meanwhile, the Hill cites a report by the Orlando Sentinel that claims Crist is expected to bring in just under $3 million. The numbers are close, but Crist raised the cash in about six weeks, compared to Meek's campaign that has been up and running for close to six months.

That same Orlando Sentinel report claims Crist's primary opponent, Marco Rubio, is expected to report about one-third of Crist's haul. Rubio's campaign hasn't yet released his full numbers but was touting $125,000 $144,000 raised online.

Update: Rubio's numbers are officially out. He raised $340,000 this quarter. Seems to be lower than most expectations.
