President Alex Sink?

Categories: Politicks
One day, when we are all living under the Sink administration --no, no, not just in Florida, but in the entire nation-- we can look back at this Washington Post blog post as the first public utterance of a possible Alex Sink presidential run.

Chris Cillizza isn't saying Sink will be President, or that she'll even run, or that anyone is even really seriously thinking about setting her up for prime time politics (she does have to win the Governor's race first). He's just kind of (sadly) grasping at straws when trying to figure out which Women may find themselves on a presidential ballot in 2012 or 2016:
"Among the candidates currently running for statewide office in 2010, there are few obvious choices. Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) and former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte (R) are each young, highly regarded and running for the Senate; at the gubernatorial level, former eBay President Meg Whitman (R) and Florida CFO Alex Sink (D) might be possibilities if they can get elected.

But, that is far down the road. The simple fact is that Clinton was by far the best positioned woman to win the nation's highest office and there is no one like her in the political minor leagues at the moment."
It is kind of sad that there are no obvious female contenders to succeed Obama (either in '12 or '16), save of course, for Hillary Clinton.

Then again, seven months into the first term of their predecessor, George W. Bush was a baseball owner and Barack Obama himself was a state senator. So it stands to reason, if Obama serves out two terms, the next President might not be anywhere near the national stage at the moment.
