Guy Shot by Cops Yesterday Once Got Picked up for Soliciting Boys

Categories: Crime

Around 3:20 p.m. yesterday, Miami-Dade Police responded to a call at 11210 SW 157th St. that a man was threatening someone with a gun over a landlord-tenant dispute.

When the cops arrived, a 39-year-old named Iran Delima pulled out a gun. One of the officers pulled his own piece and shot Delima. Delima remains in critical condition, says Det. Aida Fina-Milian, a Miami-Dade Police spokeswoman. Milian declined to name the officer involved in the shooting.

If he survives, Delima faces one felony charge of assaulting a police officer. Iran Delima has an otherwise clean criminal record in Miami-Dade, according to Riptide's records search. But this isn't his first run-in with the law.

A man named Iran Delima -- whose age matches that of Sunday's police shooting victim and with a similar address in Southwest Miami-Dade -- was picked up in October 1999 for propositioning two teenage boys in a shopping center parking lot, according to a Miami Herald story at the time. Delima allegedly offered them money to have sex with his wife while he watched, even though he wasn't married. It's not clear why he was never charged in that case.
