Is All Forgiven for A-Rod?

2009 was shaping up to be one of the worst years of Alex Rodriguez's life. He was already embroiled in a public divorce underscored by rumors that he was schtupping a woman 17 years his season -- ok it was Madonna, but still.

Then in February, Sports Illustrated and that pesky Selena Roberts dropped the bombshell that Rodriguez had indeed tested positive for steroids while an MLB player, a scandal he didn't handle well by most PR standards. All those, "Oh, he did take roids? Wonder why they didn't help him in the post-season ...har har" remarks added insult to injury.

His personal life remained a staple of gossip pages, with news he was dating everyone from nefarious hookers to Real Housewives' Bethenny Frankel.

While the naming of University of Miami's baseball stadium after him didn't quite amount to the civic embarrassment that is Jose Canseco Street, the timing couldn't have been worse.

Then, just to add more melodrama, he was forced to sit out the World Baseball Championship and the first month of the season due to a hip injury.

Fast forward to now, and 2009 might end up being a banner year for A-Rod.
He's finally decided to show up for the Yanks in the post season. Last night he helped the team destroy the Angels 10-1, and has hit 5 homers in the play offs and is currently chasing a team post-season hitting record still held by Lou Gehrig. Now The Pinstrippers are just one game from another World Series birth.

Not to mention things off the field seem to be going equally as well -- he's been dating Hollywood's reigning RomCom queen Kate Hudson for the past few months.

So is all forgiven for A-Rod? Should we secretly wish, somehow, someway he'd get traded to the Marlins? Is there now no shame in being proud to have Mark Light Field at Alex Rodriguez Park in town? Do we name a street after him?

The personal stuff is meaningless, but does a great post-season make up for dabbling in roids?
