If you believe the Turks and Caicos Sun newspaper, Barry University students from the islands will be in for a complicated next semester. Those who depend on scholarship money are "in danger of having their education abruptly interrupted," the paper reports.

The country's Ministry of Finance owes the school $300,000, which hasn't been paid since last semester. Says Barry University Spokesperson Jeremy Jones: "We have nothing to comment."

On Facebook, Barry's Turks and Caicos Island Student Association has about 30 members. About 9,300 students attend the private catholic school, many of whom are from the Caribbean.

Barry isn't the only university that's suffering. Sonia Williams, of the Turks and Caicos Ministry of Education, explained they are "working feverishly" to come up with the funds owed for scholarships.
