Marlins Looking to Sign Cuban Defector Aroldis Chapman

Categories: Sports
It's hard to imagine anything that would be all around better for the Marlins than signing pitcher Aroldis Chapman. They need another possible superstar, and an athlete who defected from Cuba would do wonders for whipping up the local fanbase.

The Herald reports that the Fish offered Chapman a  5-year contract worth around $13 million. Not bad for a guy who was living under communism just a few months ago. Though, the Marlins aren't the only team who want his services: The Red Sox reportedly are ready to offer $15.5 million.
