So the Borscht Film Festival rejected your heart-rending short film about a poetry professor who loses his cat to cancer. You just gonna sit there and cry about it? Or are you going to show those cocky bastards what real filmmaking looks like?

Now's your chance. Until December 31, the Miami International Film Festival is accepting submissions to its Florida Focus Short Film Competition.

There are two categories: High School/College students and an Open Comp. The former accepts any film under 15 minutes, the latter any film under 20 minutes. There's a $5 entry fee for the student comp, $15 for the open comp. Each submission must include three DVD copies. Go here to submit.

Whiskers, you shall not have died in vain.
