It all began around 7 p.m., says Officer Kenia Reyes, a spokeswoman for City of Miami Police.

A team of undercover cops converged on a car near SW 57th Avenue and West Flagler Street in a sting operation against a suspected Ecstasy dealer, whom police have yet to name.

The suspect stepped on the gas, tearing south down 57th Avenue. The cops gave chase.

Near SW 14th Street, the accused Ecstacy slinger bolted from of his car and hopped a metal fence behind a ranch house with a red tiled roof.

The cops heard screaming, and when they jumped the fence, they found a dog chomping on the suspect's leg.

The undercover officer tried to pull the dog off, but it turned on him too, Reyes says.

So the cop shot the dog and then arrested the suspect.

The alleged drug dealer has been charged with possession of Ecstacy, sale of Ecstacy, resisting arrest without violence, and burglary.

Riptide has asked for more info on the suspect. When we get it, we'll update the post.
