Dolphins Unveil Image of Stadium Upgrades: Metal Sun Roof and Teal Seats
The proposed new roof isn't retractable, but is a metal structure designed to shield fans from rain while letting the South Florida sun shine in. The gap in the middle allows for maximum light, but unlike fans, players could still be soaked.
Another big renovation: say bye, bye orange seats. Apparently the Fins have teal/aqua seats in mind. Ascetically we like it more, but it would have made more sense when the stadium's two main tenants were the Fins and the Fish. Now that the Marlins are moving, and the 'Canes have moved in, the orange would have been the sole color tying the pro and college teams together. Sorry 'Canes fans. Screwed again stadium-wise by the pros.
The good news for football fans at both levels is that seating is being brought in closer to the sidelines. The gap between the bleachers and the field was always a gridiron drawback, and it's corrected somewhat with the latest revisioning. Plus those upgraded video screens looks awful sweet.
Of course, no one has any idea how it's going to be paid for yet.
