Isiah Thomas really likes FIU -- even if his squad keeps losing.
Foxsports.com report that the Los Angeles Clippers were courting him to be the NBA team's president, general manager, and coach.
During his postgame conference following the Golden Panthers' latest home loss, Thomas said, "I'm very happy here at FIU... I think we have a chance to build something really special here."
Maybe. According to hoops.com, FIU has the 17th highest-rated recruiting class for 2010.
But Thomas's first year as coach has been more of the same for the

empty seats.
For this week's cover story, I analyze the school's bold yet highly unsuccessful moves to build first-class football and basketball programs, focusing on Thomas's inaugural season.

Francisco,
I suppose I will have to wait for your article to come out, but when I see statements like "bold yet highly unsuccessful" I cannot help but think that the article, like much of what the New Times publishes, will be negative. I hope you researched the mess that Cristobal inherited from Strock, or that you take into accout that Mike Jarvis went 6-26 his first year at FAU and is 12-12 his second year after signing a solid class. You also should highlight things like Turtle Thomas' success in turning around the baseball program, however I just don't see that kind of stuff showing up, hope I am wrong.
