Miami Is the Sixth Most Miserable City in America
![]() |
Yes, we here in Miami are apparently les misérables. So miserable, in fact, we we're ranked sixth on Forbes.com's list of most miserable cities in America.
The rankings took into account nine factors: unemployment, foreclosures, state and local taxes, commute times, the fate of our local sports teams, weather, pollution, political corruption, and violent crime.
We don't have a state income tax, and our weather is pretty fantastic, but it was a mix of political corruption, crime, traffic, and unemployment that catapulted us into the top ten. In fact, we were in the bottom 10 percent in the nation for commute times, corruption, and violent crime and have the tenth-highest rate of foreclosures.
The only cities more miserable than Miami are Cleveland, Stockton (California), Memphis, Detroit, and, Flint (Michigan).
