Which Miami Beach Cops Earned Six Figures Last Year? Here's the Full List
This week, a New Times investigation revealed that 54 percent of the Miami Beach Police Department's 367 non-executive officers pulled in at least six figures last year, a figure that far exceeds other similarly sized departments in the county.
The numbers matter in Miami Beach because the city is facing a projected $30 million funding gap in next year's budget. Half that hole comes from declining property values -- and the rest comes from rising payouts into the pension fund that covers cops and firefighters.
Unless the city can plug the gap, every homeowner on the Beach could be looking at more than $450 in new taxes next year.
But who exactly are the cops who topped $100,000 last year?
Many are hard workers who are compelled to take up to six weeks of overtime because of all the special events on the Beach, police leaders say. And some of that money comes from off-duty work paid for by private employers.
But even if you take only taxpayer-funded salary and overtime into account, half of all Beach cops still hit six figures.

Some of the names on the list are blacked out because cops who work undercover are exempted from Florida's public records law.
