Annette Taddeo to Run for Katy Sorenson's Seat

During the 2008 presidential election, Annette Taddeo set her sights on a big target:

Congresswoman Ilena Ros-Lehtinen. The Colombian-American businesswoman, who loaned her campaign $350,000, lost but established herself as a viable candidate for public office.

Late yesterday, Taddeo announced she is running again. This time, she is positioning herself for a seat she can actually win -- the one occupied by county Commissioner Katy Sorenson, who earlier this year decided not to run for re-election. Taddeo joins seven other candidates, including former Homestead Mayor Lynda Bell and Palmetto Bay Mayor Eugene Flynn.

In a news release, Taddeo says she is running because she wants to "help steer Miami-Dade through the churning seas of unprecedented economic woes."

A word of advice to her writers: Turn down the hyperbole.
