In 2008, Miami-Dade Judge Cindy Lederman's decision to allow openly gay father Frank Gill to adopt two brothers he had cared for as a foster parent challenged Florida's long-standing gay adoption ban. The case is still working its way through appeals and might eventually overturn the ban for good, but in the meantime, Gill and his sons will head to Washington, D.C., to attend the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

Equality Florida secured the invite for them, and Miami-Dade residents Mayda Perez and Simone Mayer will also attend with their children.
