Miami Tops Forbes List of U.S. Cities in "Free Fall"

• Miami is a joke. Funny how it finds its way on to pretty much all of these "top 10 worst" lists conducted. You can't blame Forbes, because there has to be a lot of truth in it. Sadly, Miami will only get worse. The residents are either braindead, or they simply choose to turn a blind eye to Miami's problems (e.g. the road rage). I am not a hateful person, but Miami makes you that way. People here are assholes, maybe not in the NY sense, but they are fake, obnoxious, pretentious and dumb.

• I was born in Miami the year Castro took over in Cuba. After raising my child, and going back to college, I worked for MIami-Dade County. I used my halfway-decent Spanish, and was able to do business with all but a handful of Latinos. Then when my husband wanted to start traveling, I quit my job, and started working with a temp agency. About a year ago, the temp jobs started drying up. Off the record, the v.p. of the temp agency told me that of the jobs that were available, most were asking for bilingual help. My marriage fell apart and I started looking for full-time jobs. Most of the positions for which I'd like to apply require English/Spanish. I'm sure that many of the jobs to which I have applied want someone who's bilingual, but just don't say it. Now a year later, I've come to the end of my savings, and have to sell my home. I plan to move out of Miami.

• A big problem is that everyone I know, white American people, are leaving because they are all sick of the Cubans with the "in your face" attitude. Many do not learn English and get pissed when someone who does not speak Spanish doesn't understand them. The major had jobs posted which read, "If you don't speak Spanish, don't apply"! Wtf country is this? I'm trying to get the hell out of here also. Every job interview I have been to, the first question, "Can you speak conversational Spanish?" Oh, yeah, the corruption...

• When firemen, who only fight 1 to 2 fires a year, get paid $300,000 per year or more, which is higher than a United States Supreme Court Justice, of course Miami is heading for bankruptcy. Former Mayor Manny Diaz, a Cuban, lead the slide into insolvency. Fire unions get compared to the Italian Mafia. Hopefully new Mayor, Tomas Regalado, another Cuban, can convince the unions to pay their workers $50,000 per year not $300,000+. Otherwise Miami will be in the state's hands again.

• I live in Miami and as a Cuban American "transplant" from NY I could never fathom such corruption such self serving parasites running a city. I truly long for the day NOT ONE cuban here holds office. I am not saying all are corrupt because they are not but SO SO MANY compared to any other place. I am so disgusted with at min these self serving "Cuban cosa Nostra" mentality here that I will vote for anyone who is NOT Cuban. MANY voters here are 1 issue self defeating voters. 50 yrs of unreal Miami Cuban corruption and they still haven't learned.
