Pro-Lifers Condemn Family Guy's Terri Schiavo Song-and-Dance Number

Last week marked the five-year anniversary of the death of Terri Schiavo. Just ten days before the March 31 anniversary, Family Guy, which basically stays relevant by creating controversy, poked fun of the entire Schiavo affair by including a storyline about Stewie's pre-school class putting on a play which included the song "Terri Schiavo, She's kind of alive-o." Just a few weeks late, The American Life League, the same people who were upset about Krispy Kreme's "abortion doughnuts," have decided they're pissed.

"The entertainment czars in the culture of death are busy marking Terri's death with sick comedy routines," said Jim Sedlak, the apparent hyperbole czar and vice president of American Life League, in a press release.

Maybe the delayed timing of the outrage has to do with the fact the ALL is holding the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation's Life and Hope Concert in Indianapolis this weekend.

Got to manufacture some controversy to promote that, we're sure. Hell, considering Family Guy is broadcast by Fox, the same company that blasts conservative rhetoric 24 hours a day on Fox News, we sometimes wonder if half of Family Guy's stupid controversy stunts are encouraged to give the right-wing something to bloviate over and point to when they talk about the evils of Hollywood.

Anyway, basically we have a woman whose death was reduced to propaganda, talking points, and political showmanship five years ago, still being use to generate controversy for the sake of ratings and for the sake of promoting a concert. Can't we all just let her rest in peace?

TERRI SCHINDLER SCHIAVO FOUNDATION HOSTS 'LIFE AND HOPE CONCERT' AFTER 'FAMILY GUY' TRAVESTY EXPOSES DISABILITY PREJUDICE

Washington, DC (08 April 2010)

American Life League is encouraging pro-lifers to support the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation's Life and Hope Concert April 11 in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the face of incessant media attacks on the family and memory of Terri.

The concert will support education and activism for an end to discrimination against brain damaged persons - most recently a disturbing episode of Fox's "Family Guy" which included song lyrics such as "Terri Schiavo is kinda alive-o" and "(she's) the most expensive plant you'll ever see."

"This dehumanization of Terri is the fruit of a sick culture that would place a price tag on her head and condemn her to death for her disabilities," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League. "We are proud to stand with Terri's Foundation in the fight for recognition of all human beings - especially the preborn, disabled and elderly - as human persons deserving respect and human rights."

The Indianapolis concert will take place at the Murat Theater with country music heavy weights Randy Travis and Colin Ray.

The event will mark five years since Terri's death by dehydration in Pinellas Park, Florida. Since Terri's court-ordered murder, her family has embarked on a mission to help other victims of disability dehumanization.

"The entertainment czars in the culture of death are busy marking Terri's death with sick comedy routines," Sedlak said, "but pro-lifers and personhood advocates will have the opportunity in Indianapolis to be a visible sign of contradiction - a visible reminder that Terri was never a "vegetable." She was a human person right to her final breath and we will not allow her unjust death to be in vain."
