Not to dis Miami's blogosphere (because we love it so), but it's rare that we really get excited about a new blog. Enter
the Heat Lightning, which we imagine tearing through the metaphorical sky of the SoFla blogosphere like, well, a lightning bolt made out of flames.
It marks the return to regular blogging from former
Critical Miami scribe Alesh Houdek. He's joined by
Miami, Bro blogger Liz Tracy with the promise of more contributers. Covering a "a mix of local and non-local content," it seems to be Miami's answer to
The Awl.
Hopefully this means Miami's internet space will get a smart, clever take on local, bizarre and counter cultural matters (something that's been sourly missing since the departure of Ignore, where they let
just about anyone write art reviews).
To get a taste here's
a rundown of Saturday's disappointing Second Saturday art walk,
an explanation of why only ugly girls get tattoos, and
a link to a story on a very Chonga-looking killer.
