There's been a lot of talk about the new iPhone, thanks to Gizmodo and their controversial leak of the new prototype. But now, it's official: Mark your calendars for June 7.

That's when important features of the new iPhone will be mentioned, possibly including some not yet released surprises, at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. It's also when Apple will officially announce a release date for the new iPhone.

Rumors are already spreading. Some are speculating the new phone will go on sale while the WWDC is still going. But if Apple sticks with tradition, it will be released on a Friday. June 11 could be an option, but it's all pure speculation at this point. All we know for sure is that it will launch in June or July. Apple's strong financial guidance for its June quarter suggests a June launch.

Thanks to an Apple programmer losing his phone last month, we actually know a lot of the added features. According to reports, the new iPhone has a second camera on the front, good for recording video or live streaming to sites like UStream. You'll reportedly be able to make video calls from anywhere, which suggests that there might be an iChat feature for the phone, as well. But will it overpower text messages and BlackBerry Messenger? The downside: All of these new video users could put even more of a strain on AT&T's 3G network.

Another feature potentially on the docket is new iPhone software that allows for streaming music apps while surfing the internet or reading emails-- it might seem small, but it couldn't be done before.

For all of you loyal Verizon subscribers, a report suggested last week that AT&T might have gotten its exclusive extended until 2011 because of the inexpensive data plans it provided Apple for the iPad. But sticking with AT&T might mean good news for you. Our guess is the new iPhone will probably cost around $199 (for a 32 GB), with a bigger storage edition for $299 (probably the 64 GB). This might lower the cost of the current iPhone 3GS (16 GB) to $99 or lower, to make room for the newer models.

You'll have to wait 'til June 7 to know everything for sure. Unfortunately tickets to the WWDC are sold out entirely, but you can still find out exactly what's going on as it is announced by livestreaming the entire conference from their site: developer.apple.com/wwdc/
