Dwyane Wade, FIU's Garrett Wittels Nominated for Espy Awards

​The nominations for ESPN's annual attempt at putting on an awards show, The Espys our out. As if to underscore the city's all-around sports mediocrity, players with Miami teams only got two nominations. The first is a given, the other is kind of surprise. 

The Heat's Dwyane Wade is nominated for Best NBA player, which duh. However, FIU's Garrett Wittels is nominated for Best Male College Athlete for his amazing hitting streak. That's out of all sports too, so he's up against big guys like John Wall and Mark Ingram. 

As for our other teams, the Marlins got nothing. It's also kind of sad when the Dolphins' owners box got more nominations than its locker room. Both Venus and Serena Williams are up for Best Female Tennis Player. 

You can vote here. The Show takes place July 14th in Los Angeles and will be hosted by SNL's Seth Meyers (Really?!??).
