Jesse Jackson Says LeBron James Was Treated Like "A Runaway Slave"

​Cleveland Caveliers owner Dan Gilbert came across as a whiny, sore loser when he posted his now infamous pissed-off, Comic Sans screed when LeBron James dared join the Miami Heat. He called James' actions "heartless and callous" and promised that the Cavs would win a championship before the Heat did. Well, now civil rights icon Jesse Jackson has lashed back at Gilbert, saying he's treating LeBron like "a runaway slave."

Jesse Jackson released an open letter to Gilbert through his Rainbow PUSH alliance, and called his statements "mean, arrogant and presumptuous."

"He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers," wrote Jackson. "His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship--between business partners--and LeBron honored his contract."

"LeBron is not a child, nor is he bound to play on Gilbert's plantation and be demeaned. He has been a model citizen and has inspired the children of Akron, Cleveland, the State of Ohio and the United States," Jackson continued. "He has conducted camps for children, helped to win a gold medal for our nation and his public deportment has been excellent."

And yet not a word about Gilbert's choice of font.

Also, note to Gilbert, sounds like maybe you should have gotten rid of Delonte West if you were serious about keeping James.
