In your Monday-morning wrapup of crime, horrors, and the occasional glimmer of hope: A man is charged with fatablly stabbing his wife in front of his daughter, a young girl was accidentally shot during a two-man gunfight, a bicyclist and a pedestrian were hit by vehicles in separate incidents, manatees were found in troubled water, and Louisiana pelicans are finding a new temporary home in Miami.

Forty-nine-year-old Guillermo Cora is accused of stabbing his wife to death. Neighbors report hearing their 13-year-old daughter scream in Spanish, "Daddy, daddy, don't do it!" His wife, Stella Garcia Decora, 42, was found with multiple stab wounds Friday around 5 p.m. in the family's home near NW First Avenue and Ninth Avenue.

The couple has two other children, but only the daughter was home. Cora also had a large cut on his neck; he will face charges of first-degree murder. Police have not yet uncovered a motive. [CBS4 | Herald]
