The overall unemployment rate in Florida declined in June, but the Miami-Dade county saw the steepest ride in the entire state. The unemployment rate jumped half a percent from 12.3 in May to 12.8 in June.

Meanwhile the state-wide rate fell to 11.3 percent, the third dip in as many months. In all, the South Florida region lost 28,000 jobs in the month of June.

However, the rate isn't seasonally adjusted. Meaning some of the job loss may be naturally attributed to the end of the school year and South Florida's annually bleak summer tourist season.
