Michael Beasley, once billed as the Heat's promising next star, is now playing for the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, and the GM for that team offered an explanation for why Beasley never delivered on his promise with the Heat: He was smoking too much pot. But don't worry, "He's hired people to help him grow up." Because that's the best way to reach maturity: Hire people to do it for you.

Timberwolves general manager David Kahn was on the Twin Cities ESPN radio station to discuss Beasle, and says the player failed in Miami because he "smoked too much marijuana."

"He's not smoking anymore, and I told him that I would trust him as long as that was the case... he has developed a really good support system around him this past season in Miami," Kahn said. "He's hired people to help him grow up. He is growing up -- he's not grown up. He's 21... "

It's kind of sad that you have to pay people to help you grow up, but whatever works for Beasley is for the best.

Coming out of Kansas State, Beasley was the number two overall pick in the 2008 draft. His signing came with big expectations, but Beasley rarely lived up to them. He wasn't horrible; he just wasn't the second coming of D-Wade. It's also been reported he was fined multiple times for various violations of team policy during his first season.

Before the start of last season, Beasley posted a picture of himself on Twitter with what is believed to have been a baggie of marijuana in the background. He checked himself into a rehab facility in Houston days afterward.
