About six of Galvin sings were found spray-painted with the slur, all in the area of NE 135th Street and 12th Avenue.
"I'm a little dumbfounded," Galvin tells Naked Politics. "They didn't paint any other signs in the neighborhood -- that we found."
Florida's 17th District is one of the most Democratic in the nation, and the winner of the crowded Democrat primary is likely guaranteed to win the general election.
The population of North Miami is about 55 percent African-American but has a history of white gay politicians in office. Openly gay Kevin Burns served as mayor from 2005 to 2009 and is now seeking election to the state Senate.
