Dolphins Trade 'Folk Hero' Greg Camarillo to the Vikings
Camarillo's 64-yard overtime touchdown catch against the Baltimore Ravens in December of 2007 helped the Dolphins avoid a winless season that year (video below). It also forever placed Camarillo in the Dolphins Heroes Pantheon, earning him undying devotion from fans, and the nickname "The Dream Killer" from radio host Jim Rome (after Camarillo ruined Rome's dream of seeing an NFL team go winless for an entire season).
In return, the Dolphins are getting cornerback Benny Sapp from the Vikings. Sapp is a capable corner that will add depth to a young (and hurting) defensive back corps. And while the move may not be popular with most Dolphins fans, the fact remains that Camarillo faced an up-hill battle to make the team this year. He's returning from ACL and groin injuries, and with the addition of Brandon Marshall, as well as the emergence of Davone Bess and Brian Hartline, it was a good bet the Dolphins would have cut Camarillo anyway.
A few things Vikings fans need to know about Greg Camarillo: They're getting a gritty player who gives his all, has great hands, and is a locker room leader. But, most importantly, they're getting the only player in NFL history to catch a football with his ass.
