The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville was all set to host "International Burn a Koran Day" to commemorate the 9th anniversary of 9/11 in all their joyous, ignorant, bigoted glee. But the City of Gainesville has denied them the proper permits. The church says it's still going to burn those holy book anyway.

Dove World had applied for a burn permit for the demonstration, because in Gainseville you can not just set fire to large amount of things as your please. However, their permit was denied.

The city's interim fire chief says book burning is banned, and he will not let the church have an exception.

The church however sent out an email proclaiming, "City of Gainesville denies burn permit -- BUT WE WILL STILL BURN KORANS."

Gainesville mayor called Dove World, a "fringe group and an embarrassment to our community."

Exactly, because the extremist views and action of Dove World does not represent the feelings or actions of the City of Gainesville, or for that matter, the larger Christian community.

Luckily, in this country we do not judge mainstream religions based on the actions of weirdo, violent, hateful extremist factions. Oh, wait, people are& fiercely speaking out against a Muslim community center near ground zero? Never mind then.
