Isiah Thomas to Take Job with Knicks, But Stay at FIU

In the past few weeks we've been hearing two rumors: 1) Isiah Thomas was definitely going to return to the Knicks 2) Isiah Thomas was definitely going to stay as the head coach of FIU basketball. Turns out that both were right.

Thomas, the New York NBA team's former president and coach, was fired by the Knicks two years ago after widely being credited for running the once-proud franchise into the ground. During his final season he led the team to a dismal 23-49 record.

Then last year he surprisingly popped up to take over the head coaching job at FIU. Rumors of Thomas leaving the school started popping up almost instantly, and probably will haunt the program until the day he actually leaves.

But today isn't that day. He's been hired as a part-time consultant. Apparently, despite all the controversy (and lawsuit) he brought during his tenure with the Knicks he still remained close to team owner Jimmy Dolan (no friend of our sister paper, the Village Voice) and will be giving one more shot to contribute to the team.
