• Ok some soapbox: Just because someone is displaying cross-gender behavior does not automatically mean: 1) they are homosexual 2) that they are easy victims to be beaten 3) that the martial arts will turn someone into a stereotypical, knuckle-dragging, unfeeling physical fighting machine I knew I was really a female all of my life since the age of 4, as "girly" as they come. I studied the martial arts for quite awhile, resulting in a 2nd Dan (degree) Blue belt in Tang-Soo Do and 3rd Degree black belt in American Kenpo Karate. I was intricately and somewhat brutally trained in military Special Operations unarmed combat (having actually had the need to use it several times, overseas in the War On Terror), I am now becoming certified to teach Krav Maga - an Israeli system of self defense. Went through all of the above, and I still ended up in my life as a very happy post operative woman of Transsexual history.

• Wow! This ad is so offensive to me. I am Transgender and think of all the negative social messages that I see ranging from Jerry Springer to this crap. Karate is not going to change someone who is gay or Trans. Well, it might make them more able to defend themselves, which is a good thing, but ads like this just reinforce homophobia and transphobia and incite violence and discrimination against them. If you can't connect the dots, then you are blind.

This is tragic that with all of the really good instructors out there people like this are still running karate schools and giving the rest of us bad names. I am truly disgusted by this campaign, and those of you with derogatory comments. Every day I read the papers and watch TV about south Florida I realize how small minded our residents are. • This ad could be interpreted in many ways. In the end, who cares? life is a joke. It could be funny for some, or confusing for others. If you are gay, its kinda funny, because you know it's not true! The ad could have showed more, so it's kind of confusing and some people might not even notice it.It funny to see how far businesses go to get customers.

• Wow, alot of sad and pathetic people actually approve of this ad. First off, I took martial arts, and im still gay. All this ad did was make me ashamed that i had anything to do remotely with these kind of people when I was younger. Second, this isnt calling a foul or being whiny. This is an actual case of homophobia, they are trying to say that your child needs to keep to the stereotypical gender roles and that its wrong to be anything else. And to those here who commented that it was funny or that people are just seeing it in the wrong light(refering to comments from Mysticaldaze and Bob for example), you are just ignorant of others view, which is sad and I hope for the best that you learn that this sort of thing is not ok.

• Sorry Zubi, but these are almost ineffective, considering the type is so small the average person isn't going to even realize where the karate lessons are happening. Also, it has exactly the same aesthetic as your frame shop campaign -- big, overexposed photo and tiny font, and attempt to "shock." Fail, boring, yawn, on to the next one.

And this is completely pathetic and sad that this is they're advertisement strategy... first off taking a martial arts class is not going to change someone from being gay. Thinking it is, is just plain ignorant. In addition, the simple fact that they are judging shows they are not a REAL martial arts class. • The pictures just suggest the kid has been hanging around his mom too much and needs some sort of physical activity. He isn't cross-dressing, just bored and knows nothing other than what mommy does for fun. The ad gives (presumably single) moms an idea of a beneficial activity for their kids.
