University of Miami Rises in U.S. News College Rankings, Finally Bests UF
After coming in at number 50 last year, UM now sits at number 47, where it is tied with Penn State and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Founded only in 1925, University of Miami is also one of the youngest schools to reach the top 50.
That's great and all, but we bet more competitive UM alumni will be happy to know that Miami for the first time outranks University of Florida. UF fell to number 53 this year.
Here are the rankings for all of Florida's "Tier 1" schools:
47. University of Miami
53. University of Florida
104. Florida State University
159. Florida Institute of Technology
179. University of Central Florida
183. University of South Florida
Barry University, Florida International, and Florida Atlantic were rated "Tier 2" universities.
