'Canes Coach Shannon Orders All Players To Shut Down Their Twitters
From Eye on the U:
"I called coach Shannon, who is out recruiting, and he told me he's asked players to shut down their Twitter accounts," UM sports information director Chris Freet said. "The goal is to limit distractions and help them focus. There are bigger goals than Tweeting."Well tweeting is about as much a "goal" as say updating your Facebook or texting your mama. It's just another form of communication, though an extremely public one if the user doesn't make their profile private.
But aside from last week when Jacory Harris Tweeted a picture of his ridiculous Oakland Raiders onesie, we can't really remember a time when a 'Canes tweet has garnered much media attention.
Though, Shannon knows the 'Canes will always be under a unique, if not unfair, media microscope and any questionable Tweets could be fodder for desperate sports outlets looking to reflame the fires of the old "convict" days.
On the other hand, it does seem sort of over-reactionary. Is it coincidental it comes after Harris tweeted about his outfit and then a few days later put in a game-losing performance against Ohio State. It'd be a stretch to figure the Tweet had anything to do with Jacory's game play, and the new Twitter ban seems a bit strict.
