Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado believes in up-to-date homeless sports fashion.
It was a funny, inspired idea on the part of a few forward-thinking Clevelanders: Ship pallets of Cavaliers' LeBron James jerseys -- those that weren't in flames -- to Miami to give to the local homeless.

But nothing is simple in the summer of LeBron.

The Miami Coalition for the Homeless has put the project "on hold," according to our sister paper in Broward-Palm Beach, and the charity's spokesperson even said Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado expressed disapproval of the idea.

The Broward-Palm Beach reporter, Lisa Rab, tried to contact the mayor for comment twice last week, but Regalado's office never responded -- until her story began to get national attention. This morning, a spokesperson called Rab to angrily deny that Regalado had spoken to anybody concerning the jerseys. "We don't care," Pat Santangelo said. "We've got bigger fish to fry."
