Man Who Cut Off Whale Tail Admits He "Goofed," Wanted to Make Soup
"What can I say; there it was, there I was, I goofed up," Hogan said according to CBS4.
"I cut the tail off. Then the lifeguard showed up and I found out it was a big no-no."
Hogan was on the beach fishing for blue crabs when the whale washed ashore. While he was hacking away at the tail other beach goers screamed at him, and pleaded him to stop.
He told the others he wanted to make whale tail soup, because that's where the protein is.
In case you're wondering, yes it is illegal to even touch a marine mammal that washed up on shore, let alone dismantle one, dead or alive, with your pocket knife.
"I would have tried to make a soup out of it, like a shark meat soup," he said. "I don't know if it's even possible. I just didn't know it's illegal. Now I know!"
