The boat was found October 21st floating just two nautical miles offshore. The 45-foot power boat was spotted by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection surveillance aircraft.
Coast Guard officers boarded the boat captained by 49-year-old Miami Beach resident Francis Joseph Ferris and found 21 bales of marijuana. That's about 800 lbs of sticky icky.
Law enforcement officials then set up a sting operation in which they set up the delivery to Ferris's co-conspirators. When Charles Dion Francis, 32, a Bahamian national, Brian Richard Martin, 36, of Coral Springs, and Ramiko Jermaine Moncur, 32, of Opa-Locka showed up to pick up the pot as planned they were arrested.
All four face federal drug-smuggling and drug-conspiracy charges.
