Dolphins' Fan Base Ranked 19th for Enthusiasm, But They Do Know How to Party

​Just because we'd rather sit on the beach listening to the Dolphins game on the radio or checking the score on our iPhone doesn't mean we aren't real Fins fans, right? OK, the Miami sports fan stereotype of a bandwagoner who'd rather spend their Sunday afternoon watching the game anywhere else but Sun Life stadium is kind of true. The Daily Beast confirms it by ranking Dolfans as a pitiful19th best in the NFL. The redeeming news is that when we do show up, we sure know how to party.

To put together their latest trademark statistical listacle, The Daily Beast took into account stadium attendance over the past four seasons weighed by team record, average cost to attend a game weighed by average local income, and the "National Tailgating Index" which takes into account which fan base pregames the best.

Miami came in 19th overall. Attendance by percentage of capacity averaged out to 89.9 percent. To put that in prospective, AFC East rivals the Jets had an average capacity of 97.1 percent, while the Patriots somehow managed to average 100.7 percent.

The average cost for a family of four was $362.77, which was relatively cheap compared to other teams.

Where Miami fans redeemed themselves was in the tailgating index. We come in sixth overall, because, yes, we do know how to party, thank you very much.

We came third overall in the AFC East, only beating out the Bills. We're also way outdone in Florida by the Tampa Bay Bucs. Those fans came in fifth overall.

It's not surprise that the Dallas Cowboys came in first, while the Oakland Raiders took the bottom spot.
