Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Promise "New World Order"

Hugo Chavez runs Venezuela as a leftist secular state. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad runs Iran as a far-right country under Islamic law. These two should not and do not agree on most things. So why are they teaming up to promise a "new world order?" Because they both hate America so much.

Granted the two leaders different positions on the political compass doesn't obscure their similarities. They're both ego-driven leaders of oil-producing countries who favor bombastic rhetoric with a rabid hatred for American power and Western capitalism.

Chavez is currently on a world tour of sorts, and will also visit Russia and Syria. While stopping in Iran he signed 11 agreements with Ahmadinejad meant to promote "cooperation in areas including oil, natural gas, textiles, trade and public housing," according to the AP. The agreements are just the latest actions in increasingly strengthened ties between the two countries.

The two leaders increased their anti-American rhetoric this go around.

"Iran and Venezuela are united to establish a new world order based on humanity and justice," Ahmadinejad said during their joint appearance on Tuesday.
