Teenagers Will No Longer Roam Freely at Aventura Mall at Night

​You have to accept roving herds of teenagers at Sunset Place or Mall of the Americas, but Aventura? That place is just too damn fancy to allows itself to be a hangout for bored teenagers on the weekend. Following a fight a few weeks ago that saw 12 teenagers arrested, Aventura Mall will adopt a new rule: no one under 18 will be allowed in the mall after 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday with out parental supervision.

We kind of feel bad for the teenagers of Aventura, because what else is there for them to on a weekend night but hang out at the mall? Hell, what else is there to do for anyone under the age of 40?

The mall's shops are closed by that time, but the AMC 24 movie theater and restaurants are still open for business. But going to the cinema alone with your friends on a weekend night in a staple of teenagedom.

And what of the parents who just had their date nights ruined by having to watch their teens at the mall?

"As a centerpiece of the community, Aventura Mall is dedicated to providing our patrons with a family-friendly shopping, dining and entertainment experience and this new policy supports that mission," Oscar Pacheco, the mall's General Manager, tells CBS4.

The new rule goes into effect this weekend, which is coincidentally the premier of sure-to-be-cinematic classic Jackass 3D. Granted, kids would need their parents to at least stick around to buy their tickets for that, but that is not the kind of flick you wanna see with your parents. Nor one parents want to see. Though, maybe its best to have adults around so kids don't try to lock each other in Porta-Potties and sling shot each other into the air afterward.
