Charlie Crist Will Pardon Jim Morrison

After the failed debacle of his Independent senate run Charlie Crist's legacy is in grave danger, so it's no surprise he's decided to become the "guy who finally pardoned Jim Morrison." After indicating he was open to pardoning The Doors frontman of indecency charges stemming from an infamous 1969 Miami concert, he's now decided, "the right thing to do would be to try to bring about a pardon,"

Doors fans have long petitioned Florida Govenors to grant The Lizard King a pardon, but their pleas have gone nowhere.

Morrison was arrested back in 1969 during a performance at The Dinner Key Auditorium and charged and convicted with whipping out his little Lizard King while drunk during the concert. He was sentenced to six months in jail, but died two years later while the case was under appeal.

"The more I looked into it, the more I felt the right thing to do would be to try to bring about a pardon," Crist tells the St. Petersburg Times. "And I've reached that conclusion now, that's what I'm going to do."

Yes, Crist has thought long and hard about the matter of a man's penis. There are no photographs or video evidence that Morrison actually whipped it out, and fans have clamored for years that their hero's name should be cleared.

The clemency board meets for the final time of Crist's term on December 9th. It's made up of Crist, Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson, Attorney General Bill McCollum and CFO Alex Sink. All are lame ducks, and all seem open to granting the pardon.
