Jacory Harris to Sit Out Canes' Homecoming Game Against Maryland

Categories: Sports
Any University of Miami alumni traveling back to Coral Gables this weekend to catch the homecoming game against Maryland won't see Canes colorful QB Jacory Harris in action. Instead, they'll get a peek at the Canes' future when true freshman Stephen Morris takes control of the Miami offense.

Harris sat out practice today and is not expected to start in Saturday's game.

In a heartbreaking and frustrating loss last weekend, Harris went out in the second quarter. With back-up quarterback AJ Highsmith also injured, third-stringer Spencer Whipple, son of the team's offensive coordinator, entered the game and promptly threw six interceptions.

Faced with burning his redshirt status, the team put in Morris, who amazed by throwing three touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The effort wasn't enough to win the game, but the glimpse of a possible future quarterback star was perhaps the only positive takeaway from the game.
