Katherine Fernandez Rundle Won't Fight Jim Morrison Pardon

Without admitting Jim Morrison was railroaded by Miami-Dade's criminal justice system 40 years ago, Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle says her office won't fight Charlie Crist's pardon of The Doors iconic dead lead singer.

The county's top cop claims the recession is the reason she won't try to uphold Morrison's conviction.

She released the following statement:
In these tough economic times, it is not worth the time, the expense or the use of precious staff resources to uphold a pair of 42 year old misdemeanor convictions. While I can never condone Morrison's actions of exposing himself to an audience, I will not waste my lawyers' time in an effort to fight an attempted pardon.
Well there you have it.

The pardon still has to clear the state's clemency board on December 9, but with Crist coming out so publicly in favor of the pardon, it is pretty much a done deal. Morrison died in 1971 while appealing his misdemeanor convictions for profanity and indecent exposure.
