One of Miami's classic condo towers, The Grand at 17th and Bayshore Drive, was rocked by a shooting on its 28th floor on Wednesday that left two men riddled with bullets. Now police have released their report: the violence started when a man tried to turn a pot deal into a robbery -- but he wasn't counting on his victim being armed and ready to blast back at him.

Kyree Edwin Wallace, a 24-year-old, now faces armed robbery and attempted murder charges in the case -- even though Wallace ended up taking the worst of the shootout.

Here's the somewhat confusing plot, according to police:

Around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Wallace and a 22-year-old named Kamal Gardner Bakie met up with the victim and another witness (neither of whom are identified) in the lobby of The Grand. The unidentified witness, apparently, was going to sell weed to Wallace and Bakie.

The men took the elevator to the 28th floor, where the victim lived. When they reached his apartment, number 2852, Wallace pulled out a gun and grabbed a shank from the witness' pocket. The plan: Steal the pot and run.

But the victim had other ideas. When he saw Wallace's gun, he pulled out his own piece and the two men started blasting away in the hallway.

The victim was apparently a better shot: He hit Wallace five times. Wallace connected once with the well-armed victim, hitting him in the leg.

Bakie, meanwhile, grabbed the drugs and the cash and ran for his life.

Police soon caught up with Wallace. Bakie remains on the run.

Here's the police report:
